Spidermen
My and many other peoples favorite superhero is Spiderman and I was raised on the Sam Rami and Tobey Maguire Spideman movies which lead me to make these drawings. These were made using colored pencil on Bristol paper.
Fast and Furious
This work was somewhat of a passion project based on my love of the Fast and Furious movie franchise that my brother also shares. These illustrations are colored pencil on bristol paper.
Kuniko’s
Kuniko’s was a new and challenging project where we were given an existing poorly designed menu and were tasked with shrinking it down from 6 to 4 pages along with creating a successful and clean organization. My palette was very muted and soft colors along with clear legible fonts on a clean white background along with hand done illustrations.
Rotoscoping
Rotoscoping is an art style in which you draw shapes over an image of varying colors to create a more loose and painterly style of image. Using this technique and my love of the Porsche 911 I created a magazine add mock up using their iconic minimalist imagery.
HAMMERHEAD
Throughout my Typography class we built our own typeface based on something resonating with us, for my typeface I constructed the letterforms out of nails for my love of carpentry. From paper to construction we created the entire alphabet along with extra characters and finally mocked them up as well.
Comic Book Illustration
As a class we individually came up with our own unique ideas for a short 5 panel comic strip. We then sketched and inked on paper, then scanning into photoshop, and finally coloring completely in photoshop made individual comic book mocks.
Greek Mythology Pins
The pins were our final project in my Illustration 2 class, we took a subject and illustrated 3 individual yet cohesive pin designs then mocked them up with the gold border and shadows seen below.
Police Scanner
The Police assignment in my Illustration class required us to tune in to a police radio and highlight the most captivating moment. My chosen snippet was, “The juvies are throwing rocks at each other!” Taking inspiration from this line, I translated it into a sketch, refining the concept further through the use of both Photoshop and Illustrator, as showcased above.
Instruction Manual
For the Raskog project, we were tasked with selecting a 30 to 40-piece item to disassemble then to turn into detailed technical illustrations. These illustrations were then translated into Adobe Illustrator, and the final output was transformed into assembly instructions for the chosen item.
Inktober
Throughout the month of October, our class was assigned the challenge of creating one dip pen drawing each day. The results displayed above showcase my efforts. While adhering to the daily themes of Inktober, each of us was required to maintain a cohesive theme individually. My chosen theme revolved around “death and destruction.” The images at the bottom represent my personal favorites from this month-long artistic endeavor.
Sneaker Icons
The Icons project involved the transformation of an existing set of icon images, where participants selected a topic of their choice to reimagine within the stylistic constraints of the chosen icon style. For my project, I opted to focus on sneakers as the subject matter. Throughout the process, I iterated through several renditions to seamlessly integrate them into the jagged and minimalist design characteristic of the blueprint icons.
IBC Root Beer Six-Pack
The Six-pack project involved revitalizing an existing brand packaging design to appeal to a new target demographic. In my refresh, I focused on IBC root beer, aiming to captivate a younger audience. I infused the design with vibrant colors and an element of exploration to evoke intrigue among the target demographic.
Festival Site Mock-Up
We began by researching existing festival websites but then took that inspiration into our own design making a complete remake of an existing festivals page. My remake was for Chicagos Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash festival where I used their alternative logo colors of pink and yellow to liven the site.
Non-profit Site Mock-Up
The Non-profit project criteria was to research and design a website for a non-profit company that either already exists or that you made. My project was based on my own made up company centered around the decline of mens mental health and getting help to those in need.
Coffee Label
In this project we researched a country that produced coffee and took their imagery and history to make our own coffee brand logo. My logo was based on Guatemalas rich history of black Jaguars and the god associated with them, Ek Balam.
